Welcome to Companion website to
      The Candle Factory's
Travelers Pocket Map of the Grand Traverse Region

This web page is designed as a companion to The Candle Factory’s Travelers Pocket Map of the Grand Traverse Region, expanding the information contained on that publication. Travelers with direct Internet access will be enabled to access detailed information focusing on their immediate areas of interest. The initial list of topics parallels the presentation found on the Travelers Pocket Map, and each topic is directly connected to an external website that deals with this selected topic.

Additional external links and internally presented information will be added as this project progresses. Suggestions and comments are welcome as we explore the means to improve organization, relevancy and accuracy (click on “Contact us” at the top of this page). Please note that the information contained on both this site and the companion map has been selectively chosen according to our personal evaluation of our region’s most valued character, and to avoid overwhelming the reader with content.

As with the Travelers Pocket Map, it is our objective to focus on the natural features of our region, covering commercial features only as they support or complete their enjoyment. We have never taken financial or similar support since the first publication of the Travelers Pocket Map in 1975. We sincerely hope that you will enjoy your visit to our region, and our publication will lead you to visiting The Candle Factory, an institution on Traverse City’s waterfront Parkway since 1971 (click “Map/Directions” at the top of this page).
